Menstrual Culture in Asia Exhibition
Menstruation has been a taboo across cultures in many places in the world. According a survey conducted by Clue, a Period and Ovulation Tracker App, on women’s attitude towards menstruation, there are over 5000 euphemisms for the world “period”. In Hong Kong, the social stigma around menstruation limits women’s access to knowledge about menstrual care. Women tend to have poor understanding about their bodies. Some even hesitate to seek medical consultation even when they have ovarian diseases. Through displaying menstrual products from 4 different Asian countries, this exhibition aims to promote understanding on menstrual culture in Asia, raise public awareness towards menstrual care and reproductive health, and debunk stigma on menstruation.
