“Muslim women are caught between rock and a hard place,” said by Mona Eltahawy, the pioneer of the #MosqueMetoo Movement. On one hand, they face Islamophobic attack that demonizes Muslim women as conservative; one the other hand, they encounter gender inequality within the minority community. What are the challenges when Muslim women speaking up gender issues in the public? How can their voices be heard?
“Break the Barriers-Inside Stories of Ethnic Minority Muslim Girls in Hong Kong”, is a collection of essay by 8 minority Muslim women, the participants of the project “Train-the-Trainers: Minority Girls and Gender Justice “initiated at CUHK.
